Scarnati Re-Appoints McCabe To Gaming Board

Warren - State Senator Joe Scarnati announced today that he will re-appoint Kenneth T. McCabe to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.  Mr. McCabe has been on the Board since its inception in 2004.

"I am pleased to re-appoint Ken to the Gaming Control Board, as I sincerely believe he will continue to ensure that operations will be conducted in an open, honest, and accountable manner," Scarnati said.  "Without question and most importantly, Ken's experience lends itself to managing a board that is free of corruption and favoritism."

Prior to his appointment to the Gaming Control Board, Mr. McCabe was a Special Agent in the Federal Bureau of Investigation for over twenty years.  Before retiring from the FBI in 2004, he was a Special Agent in charge of the Pittsburgh Division of the FBI.

"I am honored by the re-appointment and look forward to continuing work in making certain that functions of the Gaming Control Board are completed in a fashion where public confidence and trust are gained, not lost," McCabe stated.  "Much has been accomplished over the past two years, and I am convinced that we can further advance the policies of this board in an honorable way."

By statute, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board is made up of seven commissioners who are charged with overseeing the regulatory and legal framework of the gaming industry in the Commonwealth.  The President Pro Tempore is responsible for the appointment of one of the seven commissioners.  Senator Scarnati is the President Pro Tempore for the Interim and is slated to be elected President Pro Tempore in January.

"Now that gaming in Pennsylvania is a reality, it is imperative that we find Commissioners of the greatest integrity to oversee its operations," Scarnati concluded.  "Ken McCabe has proven to be a model of honesty and respectability and I am convinced that he will continue to be successful in his capacity as a Gaming Board Commissioner."
