Scarnati: Efforts ContinueWARREN—State Senator Joe Scarnati has been actively involved in working with local and state development agencies to assist in retaining or replacing jobs in the Potter and McKean County area. Time Warner Cable announced late last week that it will cut approximately 500 jobs in Coudersport, Potter County. Upon receiving the news, Scarnati instantly began working with local government officials, Potter County Redevelopment Authority, North Central Regional Planning and Development, and the Government Action Team. "It is imperative that local, state, and federal agencies work closely to help offset the dramatic job loss in this rural area," Scarnati stated. "I have been involved in several discussions and meetings with the aforementioned agencies to ensure that every resource is being fully utilized to assist in the retention and replacement of these jobs." "Right now we are in the process of working with potential agencies and employers to market the wonderful community, the tremendous workforce, and the sound facilities that this area has to offer," Scarnati added. "By working as a team, I am convinced that we will be successful in accomplishing our mission of maintaining and improving the quality of life of our citizens." Joe Pagano of the Potter County Redevelopment Authority mentioned that we must focus on the loss of jobs and work within our steering committee made up of local development agencies, and state and local government officials. "Senator Scarnati has been involved from the very beginning and has been helpful in identifying contacts and resources that have proven advantageous in formulating our recovery plan," Pagano said. "The Senator and his staff have always been accessible and supportive of community and economic development projects in Potter County." Scarnati was very optimistic and pleased with the cooperation of everyone involved. "The resolve and the strength of the people in Potter and McKean Counties will be a major asset in overcoming the seriousness of this setback," Scarnati concluded.
