Scarnati Names Committee Chairs for 2007/2008 Legislative Session
Warren - Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati
(R-Jefferson) has appointed Republican Committee Chairs for the
2007/2008 Legislative Session, which begins in January.
"We have outstanding chairs, with expertise in a wide
range of areas, who are looking forward to playing a key role in
developing and reviewing legislation," Scarnati said. "Committees are
where bills are debated, improved and positioned for consideration by
the full Senate. They do a great deal of the heavy lifting on
legislation and are crucial to the development of sound public policy."
Scarnati said that the Senate Committees also conduct
public hearings on key issues, allowing citizens and interested groups
to have a say in the legislative process and serve as a resource for
members and others.
