Scarnati Hosts College FairWarren- State Senator Joe Scarnati of the 25th district will be hosting his first annual College Fair. The fair will be held Thursday March 23, 2006 from 5-8 p.m at the Ridgway High School gymnasium. Scarnati hopes the fair will help respond to the questions students and their parents may have at this point in the college selection process. "High school graduation can be a very overwhelming and stressful time for both parents and students," said Scarnati. "Many students are uncertain of what they want to do and what steps they should be taking to stay on track. Our purpose for hosting the College Fair is to guide students and their parents in the direction that works best for them." The fair will have over 40 vendors, including institutions of higher education such as Indiana University of PA, Clarion University and Pennsylvania College of Technology. There will also be representatives from different branches of the military, as well as a representative from The Pennsylvania Academy of Cosmetology in DuBois. Representatives from the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) will be offering two break-out sessions during the event to discuss how to obtain financial aid. Refreshments will also be served in the school's cafeteria. "I hope the fair will give high school students, as well as their parents the opportunity to receive the information and advice needed to begin the next phase of their lives," said Scarnati. "Students have the chance for bright futures and we want to give them every advantage possible." |
